Excursions on Wednesday afternoon

For the free afternoon on Wednesday, 25th July, 2012 we have organized four different excursions described in the following.

Note: The two tours to the castles require application in advance during the online registration process.

We organize two bus trips to two famous Bavarian castles of King Ludwig II located in the surrounding area of München. If you wish to participate in one of these castle tours due to logistic reasons it is important, that during the online registration you specify to which of these places you would like to go. The costs for these tours are 50 EUR each and have to be added to the registration fee.

1. Neuschwanstein castle:

The trip to the Neuschwanstein castle includes the shuttle to the castle, a guided tour through the castle, and a dinner at the castle.

The number of participants is limited to 150 people. Hence it is important to register early. More details to be announced during the conference.

Alternatively, you may stay in town and participate in a guided sightseeing tour or in a guided tour through the Deutsches Museum. These tours do not require booking in advance.

3. Guided sightseeing tour of München:

Everybody, who is interested, can make on his/her own a sightseeing tour of München. We recommend the following tour, called "Grand Circle": it covers all the main touristic attractions of Munich (including Nymphenburg castle, Olympia park and BMW-world). This tour starts at the main train station in front of the department store 'Karstadt'. The price is 19 EUR, and the tour takes approximately 2 1/2 hours (however you can leave the bus at several stations, if the entire tour is too long for you). The sightseeing buses (blue double deck buses) leave from the main station every 20 minutes, beginning at the full hour, e.g. 2:00, 2:20, 2:40 PM etc. For further information click here.

4. Deutsches Museum:

We organize a tour through the Deutsches Museum. More details to be announced during the conference.

Of course, you can also set up your own private program. München offers various beautiful things, e.g. the Pinakothek museums very close to our conference site or you may find something else from 'About München' .
